The Vallée Blanche is a wonderful glacier-covered valley, with several outstanding ski descents, and of course everything is off-piste!
The Aiguille du Midi cable-car rises up from the centre of Chamonix to the top of the Valleé Blanche at 3842 metres. For a flavour of this descent, have a look at this very enjoyable video of the Vallee Blanche, made by two of my clients.
For even more adventure, stronger skiers can go on one of the variants such as the Envers glacier. With a full moon, a night descent of the Valleé Blanche is an unforgettable experience!
Dates: Every year is different, but the optimal time is generally between mid-January and March.
Level: The classic Vallee blanche is generally accessible to skiers who are confident on a red run. It is not a piste and you can expect to encounter all types of snow from light untracked powder to large moguls.
For snowboarders, the level has to be high – you must be comfortable with long, high traverses and riding with telescopic poles.
I provide loan of safety equipment:
-
- Avalanche transceiver
- Harness
I can also provide backpacks if you don’t have your own, and collapsible poles for snowboarders.
Not included:
- Aiguille du Midi lift ticket
- Clients personal ski equipment
- Meals and drinks.
